President's Report

Hi Everyone--

Happy February!

In recent news, our very own APICS Student Chapter at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside competed in the Great Lakes District Student Case Competition this past weekend in Downers Grove, IL.  This competition put 24 student teams head-to-head competing to improve ROI in the business simulation, The Fresh Connection.  This is the first year the UWP team has competed, and the team is bringing back a lot of learnings from their experience.  Some of their key takeaways were learning the interdependency of supply chain functions on business results, the importance of a cohesive supply chain strategy, and how to take key decisions to improve targeted business KPIs.  Congratulations to the team on their performance!

If you haven't already, register today for our March PDM on March 15th!  We'll be discussing S&OP and how to use effectiveness measures for the demand plan.

As you're thinking about our Chapter's upcoming PDMs and certification review courses, also think about who you could be connecting to APICS!  Is there a co-worker you think could benefit from APICS involvement?  Is there a friend of family member you think could benefit?  If so, please forward a newsletter, class e-mail, Facebook page link, or direct them to our website! YOU can be part of the way we continue to share the APICS body of knowledge!

David Averill, CSCP
President - Racine/Kenosha APICS

Are you interested in advancing your career by continuing your supply chain education?  Consider the APICS certifications for:

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD)

CSCP focus is on the end-to-end supply chain. It looks at topics relevant to your own organization as well as your customers and your suppliers. CPIM, alternatively, is more focused in-house on topics that include materials management, master scheduling, forecasting and production planning.  CLTD is also more focused within logistics, transportation, and distribution.  Learn more at APICS.ORG
