President's Report

Hi Everyone--

If you haven't already, register today for our May PDM on 5/17!  We're excited to have Dr. Peter Knight as our speaker, discussing the importance of integration across the value chain spanning sales, marketing, and supply chain.  Dr. Knight will also be the new advisor to the UW-Parkside student chapter, and we are thrilled to have him joining our APICS community.

Several members of our Board of Directors recently attended the Tri-District APICS meeting hosted at APICS Headquarters in Chicago, IL.  This was the first meeting of its kind, with leaders from chapters representing the Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, and Terra Grande all coming together to collaborate on best practice sharing amongst our regions.  We also met with APICS corporate staff for updates on the strategy and direction of the organization.  Our feature keynote was our very own APICS CEO and Executive Director Abe Eshkenazi, discussing how APICS is continuing its mission to develop people.  Along with the upcoming reconfiguration of CPIM, APICS is starting to launch a new STEM classroom program to teach supply chain concepts to students K-12.  We also learned more about channel partner & membership strategies that are expected to drive growth to APICS.  Of course, we also discussed APICS 2017.  John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods will be the keynote speaker, and will kick-off the conference.  There will be more than 65 educational sessions spanning the entire SCOR-P scope to plan, source, make, deliver, return, and enable.  Register by June 30th for savings!

Are you interested in advancing your career by continuing your supply chain education?  Consider the APICS certifications for:

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD)

CSCP focus is on the end-to-end supply chain. It looks at topics relevant to your own organization as well as your customers and your suppliers. CPIM, alternatively, is more focused in-house on topics that include materials management, master scheduling, forecasting and production planning.  CLTD is also more focused within logistics, transportation, and distribution.  Learn more at APICS.ORG
